We don’t always like to reveal our online status when playing games on Steam. But the Steam service is configured to share your gaming activity by default. To hide and stop sharing Steam games you’re playing:

  1. Hide Gaming Activity from Steam Chat
  2. Hide played games from your Steam Profile

If you want to play a certain game secretly, you won’t want all your friends to receive any notifications about it. So, to avoid confusion, you can choose to go offline or offline or hide on Steam chat.

So to do that, click ‘Friends and Chat‘ options show up in the Steam window.

Now click on your username and select

From the list of options displayed. When done, your friends won’t be able to find what you’re playing, although the information will still show up in your profile page.
