If you are new to the world of jailbreak and you are wondering what it is and want to know everything about it, then you have come to the right place. Below we will tell you everything you need to know about jailbreak.

What is jailbreak or jailbreak?

Jailbreak or jailbreak (from the English jailbreak) is the process of removing the restrictions imposed by the firmware. Hackers do this by exploiting vulnerabilities in Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS. Jailbreak provides root file system access and iOS management so you can run any software that has not been approved by Apple. This allows jailbreak users to install apps, tweaks and themes from Cydia (an alternative to the App Store) to customize the look of their devices, as well as to increase functionality.

Is jailbreak legal?

Jailbreak is legal. Last October, the US Library of Congress provided Act (Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)) excluding jailbreak of smartphones (including iPhones), tablets, smart TVs and other universal computing devices. This means that users who like to tinker with their smartphones and experiment with software can do so without breaking copyright laws.

Is there any way to downgrade to iOS 9.1 and jailbreak my device?

No, you cannot downgrade from iOS 9.3.1, 9.3, or iOS 9.2 to iOS 9.1 because Apple has stopped signing the iOS 9.1 firmware file. This also means you cannot downgrade to an older version of iOS 9.1. For example: You cannot upgrade from iOS 9.2.1 to iOS 10.2 or below.

Apple has used this strategy to keep jailbreakers at bay. It releases new versions of iOS not only to update the software, but also to eliminate vulnerabilities that are used during jailbreak, and also stops signing the older iOS firmware file, thereby limiting the iOS downgrade that can be jailbroken.

Why would I even jailbreak iOS 9 – iOS 10.2?

There are several reasons why jailbreak is so popular. Here is a list of just a few things you can do after jailbreaking your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch:

  • Install themes to change the appearance of your device’s interfaces.

It allows you to assign applications to any actions, thus you can call any applications from anywhere on iOS. For example, by double-tapping the status bar or triple-tapping the Home button, double-tapping the Power / Sleep button, you can go to any application or setting. All in all, this tweak offers almost unlimited possibilities to make using your iOS device even easier.

Should I update to iOS 9.3.1?

When the next update from Apple is released, the most popular question becomes, is it necessary to update? Has Apple fixed the vulnerabilities that could be exploited during jailbreak?

The golden rule of jailbreak is that you shouldn’t update to the latest iOS versions, by doing so you will increase your chances of jailbreaking your iOS device. A good example of this is the release of the iOS 9.1 jailbreak from Pangu, when no one expected it and everyone had already updated to the latest available iOS, so you should avoid updating to the latest update. It’s also worth noting that one of the reasons Apple is releasing iOS software updates is to fix security vulnerabilities that aren’t jailbreak-related. The Pangu team has also recommended updating to iOS 9.2.1 for security reasons ahead of the release of the iOS 9.1 jailbreak. Therefore, it is important to weigh the pros and cons of updating to the latest version.

Can you uninstall the jailbreak?

Yes, jailbreak removal is very easy. All you have to do is restore your device using iTunes and then restore your personal data from a backup using iTunes or iCloud.
